Farris Baby | Fresh 48
Updated: Oct 14, 2018
This is baby girl number 2 for Jade and Colin Farris. She came almost at 42 weeks and the day before Jade was going to be induced. Great timing, little girl! I used a friend's letter board to show the details announcing she had finally arrived! Letter boards are so cute and very trendy right now for displaying baby details.
She was just so sweet and precious during the pictures. Her big sister, Georgia, was just so excited to hold her baby sister. She almost wouldn’t let dad hold her for pictures! Luckily, Super Why distracted her enough to get pictures with mom and dad. Georgia was pretty fascinated as baby Delia nursed. I love those early teaching moments!
Jade and I have been friends for 15 years. We were shocked as we realized that, because it just can’t be that long, can it? We both started as “Scrollies” at BYU-Idaho in 2003, a term for those who work on the school newspaper Scroll. We were on the same staff as assistant editors for the News section. It was a lot of work but so fun!
I like to call Jade my Jewish South African Canadian friend. She’s pretty much the most culturally rich person that I know. She comes from Jewish descent, was born in South Africa, and later moved to British Columbia, Canada. She has a beautiful accent, and I’m so glad she hasn’t lost it in all these years. Plus she has the best sense of humor and uses cool terms like “dummy” for binkie. Haha.
Not only did Jade serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at Temple Square in Salt Lake City, she also went to law school and graduated shortly after having Georgia. Jade and Colin met during her internship for The Church of Jesus Christ writing articles for magazines in 2006 and dated for awhile. She left to finish her schooling, but when she came back to Utah for law school in 2013, they started dating again. Colin proposed to her using the jogging app Strava. He spelled out "Will you marry me, Jade?" with his run route. He now sports an impressive beard and works hard during all year round for a fireworks company.
Before graduating from college, Jade spent a semester at BYU-Jerusalem. There, she purchased a Bethlehem baby blanket. Although she worried that by buying it, she would jinx herself and never get married or have children. Looks like she didn't have anything to worry about.
I feel so honored she asked me to take these photos of her precious family of four now.
